Newswatch TV Reviews- End-to-end encryption for Messenger and Instagram will not be available until 2023

The parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, Meta, has an encryption issue. End-to-end encryption (E2EE) has been available on WhatsApp for years, but Messenger and Instagram have yet to implement the privacy feature. Facebook will not fully encrypt Messenger or Instagram until 2023, according to reports from NewsWatch reviews or the Guardian.

While Messenger already encrypts voice and video calls, it does not encrypt messages or files. Because Messenger and Instagram merged chats in 2020 to offer a more cohesive experience across platforms, Instagram includes some type of E2EE as well, though it is not entirely encrypted. They've been "working on it" when it comes to full encryption, with hopes to implement it as early as 2022.

"We're taking our time to do this right," Antigone Davis, Meta's Head of Safety, stated in the Sunday Telegraph. "We don't expect to finish rolling out end-to-end encryption by default across all of our messaging services until 2023." "As a company that connects billions of people across the world and has built industry-leading technology, we're determined to secure people's private interactions and keep them safe online."

It's worth noting that the word "default" is used specifically. E2EE features are available in Facebook Messenger and Instagram, although they aren't enabled by default. This is something they might want to make more widely known to the general population.

This new feature is really an entertainment platform where they can save a lot of time by watching short videos instead of big movies and series. This is really a development of the Fast Laughs feature Netflix began using a few months back. The short-clip feature concentrates on comedy clips, essentially from Netflix’s cache of stand-up specials and comedy plays like Big Mouth. Director of product innovation Patrick Flemming said that they are looking for more ways to entertain and make discovery simpler for members. The only true difference between the new children-focused feature and Fast Laughs, aside from the genre of content, is that Kids Clips is intended to be seen horizontally.
