Each new social media app introduces a new platform filled with content for you to scroll endlessly. Endless scrolling is widely acknowledged as a problem, but that doesn't stop us from doing it. According to NewsWatch TV AMC, TikTok is now offering ways for users to take a break from the app. They're telling you to spend less time with them, which is counterintuitive to a good business model. Or is it?

Short-form videos are TikTok's specialty, so it is a killer way to captivate you. With a short attention span required, it is ideal for those looking to zone out and imbibe entertainment without getting bored. You can now set a timer so you know how long you want to spend on the app. A reminder will be sent to you when the timer runs out. In 2020, they introduced a daily screen limit feature, but now you can control it at once.
In addition to reminders, there'll be an entire dashboard dedicated to helping you give all that endless scrolling a rest. As part of TikTok's new screen time dashboard, our community will be able to see how much time they spend on the app, as well as how many times they opened it and when it was used during the day and at night, according to Jordan Furlong, TikTok Product Manager of Digital Well-being.
In addition to receiving weekly notifications from the dashboard, TikTok is also taking into account younger users who may be more prone to unhealthy scrolling. This is very similar to the iOS Screen Time tool. Screen time tool reminders will be sent to users between the ages of 13 and 17, especially when their “sessions” extend beyond 100 minutes.
